In 2004, 2 local Denver musicians decided to form a new band. Doug Sable and Joellen Cabot had been collaborating long distance from Denver to North Carolina until Joellen moved back to Denver in late 2004.

Doug Sable has been playing in local bands since the late 70’s. Not only is Doug an accomplished guitar teacher but he is also a bassist, vocalist and engineer. He has been a member of local bands including Lionize, Crucial Fix and currently Gods Day Off and Tempting Zen. Doug has recorded over 10 albums.

Joellen is a lead vocalist who has been singing and playing guitar since the ripe old age of 11. She can be compared to Annie Lennox, Ann Wilson, Pink and others. Her influences include Geoff Tate, Aretha Franklin and Gladys Knight. Joellen has rare, powerful style that fits any type of song. She is also a very talented guitarist and song writer.

The next addition to the band was Chris George. Chris has been playing the drums since the age of 4 and he has been trained since the age of 8. A product of the University of Colorado, The Troopers Drum and Bugle corps and a host of bands, he lends a powerful foundation to Tempting Zen. He is also an accomplished vocalist and arranger.

Kelly Watson joined Tempting Zen in 2005. Originally from Idaho, he has been holding down the bottom of the Denver music scene since 1998. Kelly can play a variety of styles from slapping funk to the fastest metal. Combined with his strong vocals he adds power and feel to the rhythm section and the harmonies that define the Tempting Zen sound.

Finally the band was complete with the addition of Stephan Hoff in 2006. Stephan grew from a vocalist and drummer in high school to the Director of the 82nd Airborne Division All American Chorus, which performed at the Kennedy Center with Bob Hope and the Jerry Lewis telethon. Stephan recorded his first album in Nashville in 1999. Now he is holding down the keyboard chair in Tempting Zen, along with vocals, songwriting and producing.

The band can be characterized as unique. Tempting Zen explores a range of radio friendly pop, to progressive hard rock, to emotional power ballads.
