Benefit for Operation Smile
Benefit for Operation Smile
Operation Smile was founded in 1982 when Dr. William (Bill) P. Magee, Jr., a plastic surgeon, and his wife, Kathleen (Kathy), a nurse and clinical social worker, traveled to the Philippines with a group of medical volunteers to repair children's cleft lips and cleft palates.

What they found was overwhelming. "People pushed their babies at us." recalls Kathy. "They tugged at our sleeves with tears in their eyes and begged us to help their children." In Naga City, approximately 300 families arrived hoping their children would receive surgery, but the team could only treat 40 children. As they prepared to leave, the Magees made a promise they would return to help more children.

Mirrors and Lights
"Glance at the lineup of Mirrors and Lights – fronted by an acoustic guitar and a ukulele – and you might think, “Well, this will be a pleasant little folk song.” But about ten seconds into “Shut It Down,” you find out you were wrong. The band’s energy and attitude will have you reaching for the volume knob, or whatever controls the sound level on your device, to turn it up."
- Reverb Racoon

Mirrors and Lights is Lindsay Barnett, Marie Davison, Ryan Self and Nick Solga. With a diverse musical background ranging from blues and rock to Celtic and folk, Mirrors and Lights incorporates all these sounds into their original music as well as their unique covers. Influencing musicians include Sylvan Esso, Angus and Julia Stone, The Everybodyfields, and First Aid Kit among many many others. A relatively new Denver band, with a few open mics under their belt, and a demo in the works, they're excited to break into the Denver music scene! You can check out their music on facebook and soundcloud.
