Originally known as BlindSight20/20 was formed in 2014 by multi-instrumentalists Johnny Black and Shane Shamblin in Caney, KS. At their first house party performance, Lacey Cline and Johnny met, started dating and soon afterwards, Lacey joined the band as bassist. The three moved to Bartlesville, OK and continued performing in an expanded area of Northeast OK and Southeastern KS. Soon after moving, they met Alexander Blu and eventually recruited him into the band. In a random sequence of events, the band and Chris Gilliam became friends as they both were billed at a show at the Venue Shrine in Tulsa. Eventually, Chris formed Blind Productions, Inc. and signed BlindSight20/20 to the label as manager and producer.
A rough recording of the band's single "Atoms" was soon sent to Wes Jacque, The Metal Moose, resulting in a phone interview with the Moose. After going into the Simpson Studios in Broken Arrow, OK, the band emerged with two singles, "Flight" and "T-Shirt" and released the singles on iTunes and ReverbNation. Shortly afterwards, Chris took over drums and the band relocated to Tulsa, OK. In Nov 2016, the band introduced former Deformati guitarist, Joe Perry as their 5th member at rhythm guitar. In Dec 2016, original founding member Shane Shamblin has re-joined on bass guitar.
Since the move to Tulsa, An Open Approach has produced and performed at several venues with national, regional and local bands, been featured on NothingShockingPodcast and Krave Radio Underground and their single "Flight" continues to garner national attention and radio play. An Open Approach will soon release their EP MEMORIAL in early 2017.
