The Stranger Still

The music of The Stranger Still is emphatically referred to as the synthesis of
“fatt rock and roadhouse”. And once you’ve heard them perform it is hard to
deny that is exactly what you have just experienced. Their heavy set, driving
rock and piercing melodies with a hint of dirty southern soul are combined
seamlessly to create this uniquely contagious brand of modern rock. In no
uncertain terms, The Stranger Still is on a mission to bring the art of
songwriting and skilled musicianship back to the forefront of mainstream
music. It’s time to say goodbye to the flavor of month fads and open your ears
to the soulful expression and intensity that is embodied in the timeless sound
of The Stranger Still.
The Stranger Still was formed in mid 2005 from former members of popular
niche bands Jitney Ride and Jay. In the short time since the bands conception,
the members of The Stranger Still have quickly made a name for themselves.
Known for their intense live performances and classic stage presence, they
have built a strong fan base of loyal concert goers. Each member of The
Stranger Still blends their own style into their diverse library of music while
maintaining continuity and creating an uncommonly unique sound. The warm
bluesy vocals and graceful acoustic guitar of Jon Rise are masterfully
accented by the powerful lead guitar of Cody Lane, and strong sophistication of
Andrew Ward’s piano and organ work. That, combined with the solid, full
bodied bass guitar of Steve Gymer and the relentless percussion of Josh
Pryor, creates a sound that cannot be ignored.
Aside from their seemingly bottomless well of creative inspiration, The
Stranger Still is deeply invested in the business end of the music industry,
tirelessly promoting and marketing themselves in order the spread the word
about what they believe to be the next great wave of rock music. With their
debut studio album in the final fazes and an aggressive push towards national
recognition, it won’t be long before The Stranger Still is a common site on
theatre and concert hall marquees across the nation.
