The Demon Funkies
The band formed in Denver and immediately began fusing funk, jazz, groove and rock & roll to create their flaming, dripping sound. Fresh lyrics combined with the deep smooth tones of their instruments make their music both gripping and memoraable. The Demon Funkies deliver a night of dancing, fun, quick song turnarounds and energetic performances that are sure to get the crowd on their feet. Stylistic influences on the band are an eclectic mix of rock, jazz, hip-hop and funk such as… The Meters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Weezer, James Brown, Lenny Kravitz, Karl Denson, G. Love and Sublime.
In July of 2003, in a 2 month play-off competition, Demon Funkies won runners up out of 48 of Denver’s best bands at Quixote’s battle of the bands, as voted by audience and judges.
