erich and jesse both lived in ann arbor for eight years, yet never knew each other. they both moved to denver at the same time, yet still did not know each other. a year passed. they both answered an ad posted on Craigslist, looking for band members. the resulting project, the laughing academy, did not last long, but a creative partnership had been established which would not die so easily. choosing the name “take,” erich and jesse set themselves the task of recording an album. they enlisted the help of denny, a co-worker and friend, whose musical sensibilities they greatly respected. the album took about three weeks to record and master. pleased with the result, they began rehearsing a live show, practicing at leopold bros. distillery in northeast denver, thanks to the kind support of todd and scott leopold. denny was asked to join the touring band, due in large part to erich and jesse’s appreciation of him as a kind and decent human being.
