In the sultry world of Colorado indie rock and torrid ballads of more traditional origin, bursts the up and coming Pop sensation Rachel James. Take classical piano, add rock-inspired electric guitar, toss in swanky drum sets and you get an idea of why Rachel James immediately made good in the Denver music scene. The riotous applause may be out of appreciation for a female rocker more Joplin than Lavigne or it could be because Rachel is quite simply a hot young piece of sass. Music has held her as a muse since she was 5 years old learning piano and voice at the onslaught of her tutelage. She found her voice and that drive sustained her passions through the tumultuous teen years. Always ready to perform Rachel was asked to join Tiffany Vartanyan on the Acquire the Fire tour during her freshman year in college. As a Colorado Native her roots kept her close to home for college as CSU saw her graduate with a BA in Journalism. It wasn’t long before music came courting again. “Music has always been able to reach my soul in a way most other things couldn’t,” Rachel claims. She began writing as a career 2 years ago and has since written over 150 songs, recording 20 of them in the last year. With the guts and pipes to front true blue rock and roll, Rachel is equally empowered in her haunting, piano-driven ballads. Packing years of musical training, she fosters an ease and energy onstage that has audience members jumping up and singing along. Since her launch with her backup band Brighton Boulevard, now strictly Rachel James, she has played to some great opportunities already: SXSW (2010), Warped Tour (2010), Rocky Mountain Localpalooza (2010), Underground Music Showcase (2010) and we look forward to a strong 2011 for licensing and song writing. With so much propelling her forward and a foundation in great lyrics, brilliant musicianship and live performance; listeners can’t help but applaud.
