Human Beings employ a wide variety of methods when communicating with one another. Whether it be seen, heard, felt, smelt, or tasted, the goal of interpersonal communication remains the same; expression of one’s ideas, thoughts, sentiments, and emotions; the appeal to another’s senses.

Our chosen medium of expression
MUSIC.

Sound travels in waves and is measured in frequencies. Attached to those sound waves are our ideas, our thoughts, our sentiments, our emotions, as well as our hopes and dreams, our deepest fears and our darkest secrets. The OPTIMAL FREQUENCY occurs when those sound waves, enriched in human thought and emotion, reach out and grab you by the soul, forcing you to FEEL, beckoning you to MOVE.

The origins of Optimal Frequency can be traced back to Littleton, Colorado circa 1997. Vocalist Chris Medved had recently moved to the area and met Guitarist Kevin Eady. The two first experienced their shared love for music during their off hours while attending Littleton High School. Eady introduced Medved to the musical styling of his favorite band 311. Smoking grass and singing songs through a Marshall practice amp and a $5 microphone, a deep musical bond was formed.

As the two grew up they grew apart, and by happenstance ended up being neighbors in the town of Durango, CO in 2002. Their musical fire was rekindled, and after a year of solid songwriting as a duo, Eady and Medved decided to move back to the Denver area and start a proper rock and roll band. They brought in a former classmate from Littleton High School, Woody Roberts to play bass, Eady’s lifelong friend Joey Darras on rhythm guitar and vocals, and former classmate from Durango Brandon Silva on drums.

All five of the original members of (((OF))) had very diverse musical backgrounds, and this was evident in the music. Drawing influence from such acts as 311, Dave Mathews Band, Sublime, Pearl Jam, Incubus, String Cheese Incident, Zebrahead, Shootyz Groove, and Jimmie’s Chicken Shack, the quintet tried to create their own brand of urban based groove music with hip hop and reggae undertones.

In the summer of 2005 (((OF))) was blessed with the opportunity to travel to New York City to work with long time heroes Shootyz Groove and their Lab Atomix production company on the debut (((OF))) album. The experience proved to be life altering for the members of the band, and the lessons and ideas instilled by producers Nelson Ramirez, jr. and Donny Radeljic have formed the band and their sound into a marketable commodity.

Current members Eady, Medved, Roberts and Drummer Jim Charnesky have plans to take Optimal Frequency as far as it will go, constantly striving to evolve the (((OF))) sound as well as their live performances.
