Really country stuff, a little blues. Nothing like what I’d been doing. I didn’t really expect anyone to hear any of it.” Then by chance Noodles was introduced to fellow Denver songwriter Hunter Dragon, who was then booking for a local dive bar. “Hunter suggested I come out and play a 30 minute opening set. After I finished playing what I thought was going to be a one time deal, this girl asked me if she could buy a CD. She kept comparing me to a young Bob Dylan. I figured I must have something.” Shortly after that first performance Noodles chose to return to the bass and build a band to record and perform his material. “I’m not any kind of prodigy on the guitar so I decided to add a couple players I knew could handle the material. I added James Curtis of Amphibious Jones because he’s something of a country music encyclopedia. The man just drips Hank Williams. Not to mention he’s a ripping lead guitarist and accomplished slide player. Mitch Milavec I added on rhythm because he approaches the chords with a really fresh feel. Our final member, Kyle Butman, is James’ drummer in Amphibious Jones and he literally just jumped on the drums to back us up at a party. He’s an amazing player, really solid but with a bit of John Bonham in him. All in all I couldn’t hope for a better backing band.” Now, with all the ingredients in place, Noodle Soup is ready to serve up the Front Range a steaming hot bowl of country-blues.
