M.T.H.D.S.

M.T.H.D.S.= Music That Heightens Different Senses. In the literal sense of an all-immersive live experience and in the abstract sense of a musical synthesis of influences as diverse as the members themselves: 5 letters, 5 senses, 5 members. Formed in April of 2007, ‘The Methods,’ as they’re more widely known to their fans, were drawn together by a love of music and snowboarding. Using a name derived from the snowboarding trick, the Vail, Colorado based group began playing to world class athletes, tourists, ski bums, gnarly shredders, hipsters, slizzes, meth heads and confused drunk weirdos that accidently wandered in to the show. Equal parts shred-driven funk, melodic hip-hop and rhythmic reggae, M.T.H.D.S. effortlessly defy traditional categorization with enough pop to be catchy and enough grit to be edgy. Whether the music bumps, rocks or vibes, one thing is for certain: everyone leaving a M.T.H.D.S. show is covered in sweat, humming their favorite track and wondering where they’ll play next. Guitarist Johnny Schleper and drummer Dustin ‘Durty’ Zentz bring a rousing one-two of audio whoop-ass underlined by bassist Chris Chipouras’ methodical bass lines. The M.T.H.D.S. sound is rounded out with Boston based emcees Lawrence ‘L’ Kerr’s staccato delivery of complex rhymes and Nick ‘Don Dilly’ Dillen’s energy driven punch-lines. M.T.H.D.S. have been booked aside The Roots, Ludacris, Guru, Eek-A-Mouse, The Warsaw Brothers, the Salvador Santana Band, Intalek, MC Chris and some other heads they were to wasted to remember playing with. They also rocked the fuggout at the Honda Sessions snowboard comp in Vail. All the acts they’ve shared the stage with embody a wide variety of styles, and in each case the M.T.H.D.S. sound has proven a complimentary and vibrant addition. Catch these cats before you can’t afford the tickets for the arena tour with Bon Jovi!
