Goldhill
Goldhill is a six piece band located in the lovely foothills of Boulder, Colorado. There are differences amongst the bandmates, as one would expect to find among six people working together in any capacity. For example, the individual influences of the members range from Jimmy Hendrix to Paul Simon to Giovanni Hidalgo; from Phish and Dead to Jesus Christ Superstar to Ben Folds. While this could easily cause problems for a less strong-minded band, Goldhill manages to blend all of it together to form a uniquely mind blowing sound in which the talents of each member brightly shines through. The most important component of their early success is the fact that all the members seem grounded in reality. They all understand that they may be rock stars one day, but that day is not today or tomorrow, and there are still dues to be paid. A common trait is the ability to block out all distractions, keep their respective noses to the grindstone, and make all necessary sacrifices. Although only together in their current form for a year, they have taken Boulder County by storm- playing shows (sometimes 2 or 3) almost every week and have developed quite a strong following. Goldhill is a band appreciated for their concise songs that feature both a great melody and an amazing harmony. To see them perform once is to be hooked; thanks to their improvisation, solos, and ability to make the crowd feel like a part of the show. Goldhill does not have a leader; watching them play or practice, or just hang out without instruments is to witness a form of anarchy. Different members take charge at different times and each voice is clearly heard and respected. Get used to seeing and hearing Goldhill around town and beyond- they aren’t going away any time soon.
