Dawson James and The Evening Groove

Dawson James is the founder and president of Double D records and Double D promotions. Dawson grew up in Colorado with deep blues guitar and blues vocal roots. Out of high school, he studied Classical Baroque music at Fort Lewis College in Durango Colorado where he was turned on to Antonio Vivaldi. He since has earned the Deans List every semester he’s attended the prestigious BERKLEE COLLEGE OF MUSIC in Boston, MA. There he has found a love and passion for Latin, Jazz, swing, bop, reggae and many other types of music. In 2006 and part of 2007 while in Boston, Dawson collaborated with his good friend Tim Burden with whom he co-wrote many lyrics to several of his tunes. Dawson incorporates many genres into his own unique style. His goal is to write music that can be respected and appealing to both the general public as well as advanced jazz musicians. Dawson tries to promote good will and uplifting vibes through his music. His beliefs in one god, one destiny, and the love of Christ are evident in some of his lyrical content. He currently is a professional recording artist, Jazz guitarist, singer, songwriter, arranger, bandleader, performer, and teacher. Dawson James is the front man and bandleader in a popular Jazz/ Fusion/Funk/Blues/Rock band called The Evening Groove. In the summer of 2007 Dawson finished his first national tour in support of his 2 debut albums. One 15-track album titled “Sounds” by Dawson James and The Evening Groove and one mellow 8 track self-titled album.
