As the product of two Classical Music and Art school graduates in a bohemian household, I am a jazz guitar major at Montgomery College in Rockville, Md. and a solo singer/songwriter as well. The impressions of blues, rock, jazz, bluegrass and soul have been stamped upon me with varied sprinkles of hip-hop, classical, and folk music. Musical influences to my tastes and style have been artists like Jimi Hendrix, Big and Rich, Simon & Garfunkel and the world beat of the Dave Matthews Band.
I have played in venues located in cites that range from Washington, DC, Boston, New York City, San Francisco and Berkley, CA to as far away as Monteverde, Costa Rica. While spending a year in Monteverde, Costa Rica volunteering at a bi-lingual school, I was able to wet my feet by performing at coffeehouses, open-mic nights, and school functions, but eventually moved onto featured spots at local restaurants, cafes.
Upon returning home to the DC area, I again worked my way up from open-mic nights and school functions to featured gigs around town. I have had the honor of performing at local area showcases through groups like D.C. Acoustic Underground, Gena’s Place Songwriter Showcase, the Songwriters Association of Washington and Germantown Live with Ken Salaets. Headlining spots include slots at Stain Cafe and Galleria in Brooklyn, NY, Staccato’s in Adams Morgan, DC, the Austin Grill in Silver Spring, Kramer’s Books and CafĂ© in Dupont Circle, DC and Caribou Coffee in Olney, MD. Other such highlights in my burgeoning career have been 2 headlining spots at the 2006 Montgomery County Fair in Gaithersburg, MD and the “Z-tent” V.I.P. Patio Stage during the Rascal Flatts show at Nissan Pavilion in Bristow, VA.
